City of Midlothian

Financial  Status

According to Midlothian Citizens Alliance, Midlothian's debt per capita is $11,467, almost 4 times as much as Cedar Hill's $3,135.

The City of Midlothian needs to reduce this debt, as it is keeping the tax rates artificially high.  Our November, 2009 election had two fiscal conservatives running for office.  We congratulate the Honorable Jamie Wickliffe on her victory, and expect her to be a fiscally conservative voice on the council.

We are, however, disappointed in the fire department.  We feel the following endorsement, which was published on Ms. Wickliffe's website, tends to indicate the city is officially making an endorsement:

Midlothian Fire Fighter's Association Endorsement:

Dear Ma'am, The Midlothian Fire Fighter's Association Local 3685 endorse (sic) your candidacy for City Council place 1. We are a Political Action Committee, and we are over 40 members strong and growing. Thank you, Donnie Schley Vice President MFFA LOCAL 3685
